PUN KAN LUN commenced to sail towards Hong Kong but

was told to sail to Chinese territory. He then sailed to

CHAN TONG 30 years, a travelling trader had a

similar experience while on board cargo boat No. 425Y, he

left HAU HOI Village about 22.00 hours on the 21.1.40 with

a cargo of dried ducks valued at $1800.00, he also claims to

have been attacked by a Japanese motor boat off YUNG LONG WAN

and his cargo of ducks were later, at CHEK WAN removed to one

of the cargo boats being towed by theSteam Launch KWAI HING.

In addition he had his person searched, $20.00 in Hong Kong

money and $40.00 Chinese was taken from his person. His boat

licence was thrown into the sea and has not been recovered.

Events after his arrival at CHEK WAN corroborate

those of PUN KAM LUN, excepting that he went to PING SHAN and

made his first report there.

The Officer in Charge PING SHAN telephoned me and

I instructed the Inspector on Duty, Tsim Sha Tsui, to send a

radio message to No.3 Launch to try and intercept the Steam

Launch KWAI HING. No. 3 and Harbour launches were accordingly

notified.

This launch was found by Acting Police Sergeant

A.216 Wheeler on board No. 6. Harbour Launch about 17.30 hours

on the 22.1.40. The Steam Launch KWAI HING and cargo boats

2233V and 2312V were taken to Yaumati Typhoon Shelter and

detained.
